FAQs

How are scholars selected?

In two stages. Stage 1 is an assessment of the documents you upload alongside the essay you submit with the form. Applicants who advance go to Stage 2: a video interview for graduate applicants, a monitored aptitude test for undergraduate applicants.

I don't live in Oke Ogun anymore. Can I still apply?

Yes. Eligibility is by state of origin, not where you currently live. Your origin must be one of the ten Oke Ogun LGAs, shown on your Local Government Area certificate of origin.

What if I haven't sat WAEC or graduated yet?

This program is for applicants who have already graduated and have their results in hand. If you are still studying, this program is not for you yet.

Is this a loan?

No. It's a grant, so nothing is repaid. We pay test centres and universities directly, rather than reimbursing you.

What does the essay need to cover?

One question: why should we sponsor you? In up to 250 words, tell us who you are and what you have achieved so far, why the cost of applying is the real barrier for you rather than your ability, what you want to study and where, and what you intend to do with the opportunity. Be specific and concrete. It is read as a core part of the Stage 1 assessment.
